So without further ado, let’s go to today’s episode.

We’re getting closer to that time of year yes, the new year when everyone starts thinking about their New Year’s resolutions. And I’m one of those people. I absolutely love the new year. And I love sitting down quietly with a brand new diary and writing down my new goals. It’s almost like wiping the slate clean. And I feel as though I can take a breath and hit the reset button. I usually like to break these goals down into smaller categories such as self care and travel, relationships, finances, new projects, such as I want to start a podcast like I did this year. Most people say that they want to lose weight and go to the gym. But for you, it could be that you want to quit a bad habit or create a better one in the new year, you might be a person who wants to leave their current job or start up a new business or take up a new hobby or sport, you get the idea. And with some of these kinds of goals, I like to give them a date. I like to put them down into my new diary. And then I also have a vision board, which I like to look at regularly. And it needs to be somewhere where I can see it. And for me that is in the bathroom. So every time I go to the bathroom, guess what? I can check my vision board. I know it sounds a bit creepy and a bit weird, but it does work for me. This all sounds easy, right? But why is it that most people fail at their New Year’s resolutions? We’ve already looked at mindset. But what are the other reasons why people quit so easily? Are you one of those people who throw the towel in on your goals? Are you making your goals homeless? Think about it. If you’ve answered yes, then this episode is for you. You must learn to protect your goals like you would a member of the family. And here are some little hints and tips to help you achieve these goals. Firstly, people achieve their ambitions in life through intention and determination. To be honest, the size of your goal is irrelevant. It’s important to focus on the ambition or the desire that you have, then develop the competency. Plan your moves and go for it. Personally, I don’t care whether the goal is realistic or not. If you have a goal, and your heart is in it, and you’re mentally focused, you can achieve anything in life that you desire. And don’t let anyone tell you otherwise. Once you’ve set your goals, step back and plan how you’re going to achieve them by working backwards. So that means work from the end goal and figure out your five major moves with deadlines. It’s so much easier when you have smaller more achievable goals and you have clarity around those steps and focus on putting the plan into action. You can achieve your New Year’s resolutions this way. You may also need to increase your competency or skill level. And if that’s the case, you have to go all in with your learning especially If it’s a big ticket item, education is knowledge and knowledge is power. Yes, that is a little cliche, but it is true. And for you that may mean that you may need to stop watching Netflix and random YouTube videos. only consume instructional videos and only read books that are related to what you want to accomplish. All your focus, mental power and commitment must go into the learning department for achieving a significant goal. You can also seek a mentor and network with others who have achieved your goal and go and learn from them. Lastly, add extra pressure on yourself by telling your friends, your family and your co workers that you are on a mission to achieve a particular goal. And list them as officers on patrol when you’re slipping back into your old ways and not staying on track. Tell them you want them to yell at you. scream at you, bother you and constantly remind you what it is that you’re wanting to do. The pressure of disappointing other people and going back on your word will make that much harder for you not to hit your goals. So don’t quit. Don’t delay and don’t get distracted. Stay true to what it is that you want. Set the intention and achieve that goal. It’s time now to protect your dreams. Take care of your goals. Set that New Year’s resolution and treat these the way you would your family members. Don’t make your goals and your dreams homeless. You can achieve anything. Just go for it.
